This ring features a floating gallery, which gives the eye-catching effect that the bottom of the stone is suspended in mid-air. While this possibility is rare, because the bottom of the stone is not encased in prongs, we recommend soldering this engagement ring with a traditional pavé wedding band (if you choose one) to prevent the sides of the diamonds in the band from scratching the bottom of your engagement ring stone. A channel-set, flush-set or bezel set diamond band would not require soldering to the engagement ring.
